Export & Consolidated Reports

CSV and PDF exports for observations, gap analysis, trends, teacher profiles, and a School PD Plan — or bundle several into one consolidated CSV, with an audit-trail header on every file. Plus a per-walkthrough summary as an editable Word doc and conference PDF.

From roster to evidence in four steps.

1

Add your teachers

Import your roster via CSV or add teachers one at a time. Grades are auto-normalized — no reformatting needed.

2

Conduct a walkthrough

Select a teacher, rate each domain on the 4-point rubric, and capture lesson context, student evidence, coaching notes, and a follow-up step. Done in 10–15 minutes per classroom.

3

Review your dashboard

Scores roll up automatically. See trends by domain, grade, and teacher — updated the moment you finish an observation.

4

Export & share findings

Download a consolidated CSV, or export individually as CSV or PDF — plus a per-walkthrough Word/PDF summary for the conference. Every file includes an audit header and coaching next steps.

Why LiteracyLens

Your current checklist can’t tell
a sound wall from a word wall.

Generic walkthrough tools rate “engagement” and “objectives posted.” Science of Reading observation means looking for explicit phonics instruction, sound walls in use, and evidence of decoding — LiteracyLens is built to see it.

Can it observe… Generic checklist ✓ LiteracyLens
Decodable texts vs. leveled readers
Three-cueing / MSV prompts (flagged)
Encoding & spelling routines tied to phonics
Syllable-type instruction (all six types)
Sound walls used, not just displayed
Grade × domain gap analysis, automatic
Produces compliance evidence for state literacy mandates
Verifies trained teachers are putting SoR into practice
Works offline in the hallway
The Evidence Base

Aligned to the frameworks
your literacy team already trusts.

The rubric isn’t our opinion about reading instruction. It’s the research, made observable.

IDA Structured Literacy

All six components covered: phonology, sound-symbol association, syllables, morphology, syntax, and semantics — including the encoding and syllable-type instruction most tools miss. Consistent with the IDA’s 2025 revised definition of dyslexia, which elevates spelling and morphology alongside word reading.

NRP Five Pillars

Phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and text comprehension — each with concrete look-fors an observer can verify in a fifteen-minute visit, including phoneme work linked to graphemes.

Scarborough’s Reading Rope

Oral language development and knowledge-building strands woven into the vocabulary and comprehension domains, reflecting the most current structured literacy research.

LiteracyLens closely aligns with most major science of reading frameworks — including IDA Structured Literacy, the NRP Five Pillars, and Scarborough’s Reading Rope — so every walkthrough reflects the same research your literacy team already trusts.

What administrators ask
before they buy

Does it really work without WiFi?

Yes — fully. All observations are saved directly on your device — no internet connection required. A small banner shows when you’re offline so there’s never a question about whether your data saved.

Is my teachers’ observation data private?

Yes — and no student data is collected at all. LiteracyLens stores teacher names and walkthrough notes only, directly on your device. No observation data is uploaded to external servers. Your school’s records never leave the app; no other organization can access them. You can export everything at any time or request full deletion. A Data Processing Agreement is available for district purchasing. See the full architecture at On-Device Advantage →

Do my teachers need to do anything?

Nothing. Teachers don’t download anything, log in, or even know the app exists. You conduct the walkthrough; the app records what you observe. An assistant principal account is included in the building license, but that’s it. Zero classroom rollout.

Can we pay with Title funds or a purchase order?

Yes — and most schools do. LiteracyLens qualifies under Title I (instructional improvement), Title II (professional development), Title III (ELL support), and most state literacy mandates. We invoice against purchase orders, so your procurement office can handle it the normal way.

What devices does it run on?

Designed for iPad walkthroughs — the split-view layout shows look-fors and your evidence notes side by side. Available on iPhone for quick capture when you’re moving fast between classrooms.

We already use a walkthrough tool. Why switch?

Science of Reading observation is different from a general walkthrough tool. Download it free, run your first 3 walkthroughs alongside your current tool, and see the difference for yourself.

Why we built this

A simple, mobile walkthrough tool grounded in IDA Structured Literacy, the NRP Five Pillars, and Scarborough’s Reading Rope.

A tool that works offline, doesn’t require teacher accounts, and produces the kind of evidence districts need for coaching, PLCs, and compliance — with every observation exportable as CSV.

A tool that turns a 45-minute clipboard exercise into a structured, 15-minute mobile walkthrough — and automatically organizes everything you capture.

A walkthrough and coaching tool — not a formal teacher evaluation system. Evidence collected lives in coaching conversations and instructional planning, not personnel records.

He built LiteracyLens because the practical tools principals need to lead literacy change simply didn’t exist. His work translates research-aligned frameworks into classroom-ready tools that help districts monitor fidelity at scale, strengthen coaching, and meet state literacy mandates.
